Helping homeless families
in Auburn

Family Transitions, the Rescue Mission’s new ten-apartment pilot program for Cayuga County homeless families demonstrates a critical need. Filled within days of opening in last July, all units would have been occupied right away had it not been so difficult deciding who should move in. A lack of safe, affordable apartments has many homeless families living in motel rooms that are small and costly for the county.
The Rescue Mission leases the apartments from the Auburn Housing Authority. The Allyn Foundation and Cayuga County Department of Health and Human Services provide support.
