Auto Donation Center
  • Ambassador provides community awareness by setting up displays at auto and boat shows and educates the public about the auto donation program and the Rescue Mission.

  • Auto recruiter helps bring in more donated vehicles by contacting dealerships and past and potential donors.

  • Detailer helps clean donated vehicles to prepare them for auction.

  • Maintenance assistant helps in property upkeep.

  • Mechanic helps provide minor repairs to donated vehicles to prepare them for auction.
Building Services & Maintenance
  • Custodial assistant helps keep buildings clean and secure.

  • Groundskeeper helps maintain property.

  • Painting assistant helps with painting projects.

  • Preventative maintenance assistant helps schedule, perform and document preventative maintenance projects.
Day Center
  • Hairstylist cuts hair and trims beards on premises.
Development
  • Assistant helps with such clerical tasks as answering phones, addressing envelopes and preparing mailings.

  • Barrel decorator wraps or rewraps barrels for donation drives.

  • Barrel distributor drops off and picks up barrels for donation drives.

  • Donation processor helps with various aspects of recording financial contributions.

  • Mailing assistant is available on call, particularly during the holidays, to help in the production of bulk mailings to supporters.

  • Pantry assistant helps organize and maintain an area containing donated personal hygiene items.

  • Public relations assistant visits area newspaper companies to help track where news releases are published.
Donation Sites
  • Customer service representative accepts and presorts clothing and household donations from the public.
Downtown Thrift Store
  • Clothing repairer fixes zippers and sews buttons and holes on damaged clothes belonging to Rescue Mission clients as well as clothes donated to the Rescue Mission.

  • Coordinator runs Rescue Mission thrift store selling low-cost merchandise to working individuals and helps needy people obtain free merchandise.

  • Intake specialist provides application assistance to Rescue Mission clients and helps out in Rescue Mission thrift store.
Emergency Shelter
  • Hairstylist cuts hair and trims beards of men in shelter.

  • Residential assistant helps maintain safety, security and comfort of shelter clients.
Food Services Center
  • Dish room attendant assists dish room employees in completing sanitation procedures.

  • Kitchen helper assists with meal preparation, serving and cleanup activities.

  • Meal host helps make the community meal a pleasant, orderly and safe experience.

  • Musician contributes to a positive experience for diners.
Homeless Vans in Binghamton and Syracuse
  • Homeless case management assistant helps file documents relevant to basic social work as well as homeless client needs.
Housing Placement & Support
  • Case manager assistant provides basic social work, encouragement and counseling as well as evaluation of homeless clients’ needs.

  • Housing aide provides a list of suitable, quality apartments for clients staying in emergency shelter.
Human Resources
  • Intern helps in the hiring process and with special projects.
Long-Term Residence
  • Activities aide provides assistance and support to activities coordinator in working on events and activities for residents.

  • Breakfast server prepares, serves and cleans up after morning meal.

  • Hairstylist cuts hair and beards of residents who are unable to leave adult home for such services.

  • Kitchen helper assists with the upkeep of the kitchen and helps with mealtime service.
Recreation Center
  • Laundry assistant helps fold and deliver linens and clothing.

  • Physical training and fitness expert helps instruct staff and clients in various activities.

  • Recreation assistant works with staff to provide recreational activities for clients and residents.
Spiritual Life
  • Activities aide provides hands-on craft and recreational activities.

  • Chaplain assistant offers musical services, supportive counseling, prayer and teaching to our clients and residents and participates in group and one-on-one settings.
Support Services
  • Receptionist helps operate an efficient reception office, including operating the main switchboard, greeting visitors and receiving mail and packages.
Thrift Stores
  • Electronics attendant tests appliances and repairs as necessary.

  • Linen attendant sorts, separates, folds and hangs linens neatly.

  • Store assistant helps customers and helps organize and display clothing to be sold.
Warehouse
  • Customer service representative accepts and presorts donations from the public.

  • Retail and business expert to serve on a committee to help improve thrift store operation.

  • Sorter makes donated clothing and household goods ready for distribution to retail stores.

  • Trucking assistant works with warehouse drivers to lift furniture and heavy carts on and off trucks.
